Prepress specialist Imageworx has announced a new division and the opening of a new cooperative endeavor, the Imageworx Innovation Center. Located in Levittown, PA – just a short drive from both Philadelphia and Newark International airport – the new facility will host a consortium of package printing industry vendors to collectively demonstrate their latest technologies to the flexographic industry.

The centerpiece of the Imageworx Innovation Center is a newly-renovated 7,000 square foot showroom, showcasing a Lombardi Synchroline 430 UV flexo press and a Lombardi Digistar 430 UV flexo finishing press. Manufactured in Italy, the new Lombardi presses are outfitted with components that demonstrate the highest quality embellishment techniques in the narrow web marketplace. The Lombardi Synchroline flexo press on display features nine flexo print stations with cold foil, a turn bar, a Domino K600i inkjet industrial printer, a BST Tubescan 100% inspection unit, Kocher & Beck GapMaster adjustable anvil system, and SPGprints RSI Rotary screen print module.

Plus, Avery Dennison has been active in developing solutions for the liner recycling issue. In addition to working closely with associations like TLMI and CELAB, Avery Dennison has established AD Circular. This liner recycling program has first been established in Europe to counteract the many challenges associated with release liners.

There are numerous barriers to liner recycling. Volume is often prohibitive, as many recycling outlets have minimum volume requirements for pickup. Transportation and cost are other challenges, as well as the geographical location to a liner recycling outlet.

AD Circular utilizes a web-based app to schedule pick up of used liners. It also provides useful data in the form of regularly updated analytics and certificates on the amount of liner material companies have sent to be recycled and the amount of CO2 emissions avoided.

“The AD Circular program connects converters and brands, providing opportunities for recycling, landfill diversion, and circularity,” says Lara Pearson, Recycling and Circular Logistics program manager, Avery Dennison. “The program accepts all liner or matrix regardless of supplier.”
